I have got a positive result from an ovulation test and my period is due in roughly 8 days time. My ovulation was later than i had expected and im wondering when would be the best time to test. I had used an ultra early test which states can be used up to 6 days before the date your period is due, but it have resulted in a neg, which i thought it would. Does it mean my period will be a bit late as i have ovulated later in the month instead of the usual 14 days from last period.....i am usually around 30 day cycle. Please if anyone can shed any light on this subject....the waiting is driving me nuts! Thank you in advance for any help!

I know the waiting can be painful (I've been there) but try to wait until 3-5 days AFTER your missed period. So if you are on a 30 day cycle, wait at least until day 33 to test. Your hpt will be more accurate this way. Goodluck, and I hope it turns out how you want!

If you are later than usual with ovulation, chances are you will be later with your period. If your regular luteal phase (the time from ovulation to your period) is longer than 8 days, chances are your period will seem like it is late. Count your normal luteal phase (usually 14-16 days for most people) and that is when you should have your period. If you are still late at that point, then you can do a test. For most people, if the luteal phase is 18 or more days, that means they're pregnant. So do that quick calculation and test according to that timeline. Usually the test results are more accurate if you test the day of your missed period. And if it's negative and you period still hasn't come, wait three days and test again. Good luck!

I have a 30 day cycle and i used a pregnancy test (Answer) a full seven days before my period was due and it was positive!

If you do not chart or monitor your fertility in any way, and you think you may have conceived, you should wait 19 days (or longer) after having sex to test. Why 19?! Sperm can live approximately 5 days in the proper environment; if the sperm managed to live until you popped an egg, the actual conception could have taken place several days after the sex act that got the sperm there. To make sure you're not testing too early, assume the sperm had very long lives (5 days is considered a very long sperm life) and that conception occurred then. Then allow 14 days for the embryo to implant and develop enough hCG to show up on a pregnancy test (96% of pregnant women will test positive by then.)

I've most recently done a lot of research on this matter as my body was acting weird and looked up pregnancy signs and i was scared we were having a baby (i'm a newlywed).....I tested over a week before my period and it was negative but if you read the box pergnancy test are not 99% acurate any day before the first day of your missed period.....so you can test before hand however the accuracy greatly decreases the sooner you do....as far as when your period will be i don't know....

I would wait until you missed your period. you dont want to test too early and have it be negative. Give yourself some time to build hormones if you are, so that the test is clear. Try to be patient and keep your mind on other things to pass time.
