I got without speaking for a couple of days sometimes. So not speaking for an hour is a piece of cake for me. It depends on which place you are at while performing this act. If you are in a crowded and noisy bus and go without speaking for an hour and only listen to the noise around you, that could be hard. But if you are at home, that will be fairly easy to tackle. And about what I'd learn from that experience, I think I'd learn "silence is golden".

I've done this before. Some years back I got my then-husband to drop me off in the middle of the rainforest one afternoon. He went fishing for a while then before dark he came back and picked me up. I can't remember how long it was for, maybe a couple of hours. The only challenging thing about it was knowing where to put your feet sometimes. And what I learned was that it's very noisy in the middle of the rainforest after the car sounds have died away and the creatures feel safe again. I wasn't really expecting that.

The most challenging thing would be for me is to just listen cause my head always has something to say. Just wont shut up you know. I have learned that even though they eat one another when their not hungry they play good together. I learned that even a bird thinks of being one with humans by their curiousity about us. Just observing creation!!1

I've done this....it was part of a retreat I did many, many years ago. I learned that I am such a small, insignificant part of a very large and diverse world.
LOL...the most challenging thing was to NOT SPEAK!

i dont think it is a challenge... sometimes we need to step back and listen and take in information.... we learn from our surroundings and we learn through not only ourselves but through others...
