Alistair stopped scrutinising his friend and looked away for a moment. “The original hermandad, the Ancient Order of Moridura, was a secular brotherhood of Extremaduran men, dedicated to the cult of Moridura. The monks of El Monasterio
de Moridura effectively took over the ancient cult, creating from it a Catholic brotherhood, the Order of Moridura, more usually referred to as the Moriduran Brothers.
“Strictly speaking, it is not an Order, in the sense of a
group of monasteries linked to a central superior, but rather an
independent congregation of monks: it is not part of any wider
group of monasteries, nor are the Brothers accountable to any
superior but their Abbot; he is accountable only to the Pope.
They follow the Benedictine rule, but don’t call themselves
Benedictines, but Moridurans. The Vatican has never been too
happy about them, but tolerates their existence. They have
been in danger of being burned as heretics by the Inquisition,
who took a sinister interest in them for a while, but many
found that it was dangerous to meddle with them and their
shadowy alter ego, the secular, violent hermandad. When the
hermandad and the monks formally gather for ceremonies in
the monastery, they refer to themselves as the Ancient Order.
Read on a wee bit more, Paul, then you’ll understand a bit
better,” he concluded, pointing to the book.
Paul looked quizzically at him for a moment. The Ancient
Order of Moridura had frightened more than the old monk,
he reflected. He resumed his scrutiny of the text, and was
caught up again in the story of Moridura.

It is a book by Peter Curran. I have not read it so I cannot tell you if there is any link to the card you found.

I couldn't find anything other than this book. According to Occam's Razor, this probably means there is nothing else to find. Could someone be pulling your leg?

"Mori" seems to come from Latin "to die" and "dura", "Strong, tough". Extremadura is a place in Western spain. Its capital is Merida. That is probably where the author based his fictional group.

My suggestion is to read the book.
