I've heard many pregnant women say my water broke. But what does it mean?

It means the sac that contains the baby and amniotic fluid has broken open somehow usually by the pressure of the babys head rubbing against the pelvis, and water leaks out, sometimes in a huge gush, sometimes just a steady trickle.

It means the sack of fluid around the baby has ruptured. Usually this means labor has started or is just about to start and it's a sign that you should be getting yourself to the hospital.

It is very rare, but sometimes when your waters break you may not be in labor. This happened to me, my waters broke at 30 weeks but I didn't go into labor for another 4 weeks.

When your water breaks it means your sack busted open so to speak. Once your water breaks there's no way around it your going to have your baby. it's what "protects" your baby while your pregnant many women dont even experience it naturally sometimes the doctor will break your water for you but if it does break you'll know and you should get to the hospital because labor pains will set in fast I dont know how else to explain it. It happens to every pregnant woman and its nothing to be concerned about unless your not far enough along of course but that rarely happens good luck to you

The baby is inside a sac-type thing, surrounded by amniotic fluid. When the sac breaks, the water comes out - hence "my water broke".

The fluid sack around the baby has burst which sends the woman's body into labor(the baby is getting ready to be born). When her water breaks it's like she accidentally wets herself wherever she is.
