I'm sure you have a denim mini skirt. Wear that with the leggings and flats or ankle boots (overly popular in the 80's). Find a cute super cheap sweatshirt at some place like Target or Walmat. Cut out the neck of it, and the bottom hem, cropping it to about mid-drift. Next roll the sleeves up to mid arm or elbow area. Layer if over a cute cami that you like. add big bright neon bangles from somewhere like Claire's. Big plastic hoop earrings and a big beaded necklace or two. For make up bright eye color in, light cheeks and lips (otherwise you would look like a clown). With your hair either wear it down but tease it up so its big hair or pull it into a subdue ponytail off to the side with a colorful scrunchie! Good luck hope this helps!!

Oh good heavens. I graduated from high school in 1987 and this is making me feel verrrry old!
Okay - bright colors. Neon was very in. LOUD pink, lime green, orange, etc. Leggings with leg warmers and a big sweatshirt, cut "Flashdance" style. (Picture here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Flashdance.jpg).
Alternative, get a really long buttoned shirt (if you don't have one already). Button it all the way up (including the collar button). Put a large brooch (a fancy pin) in the center, covering the collar button. Wear with your leggings. Tease up your hair. Wear large, dangly earrings. Trust me, you'll give your teachers flashbacks!!
I can't believe I used to dress like that, but I did!

Wear a long silkish fitted shirt or short silkish fitted dress over the leggings. Wear colors like red and yellow things that will pop. With huge chuncky bracelets, some bead necklaces, and huge rings, all of that stuff can be found at claires, than get some wedge heels that go with the colors of ur outfit. then wear ur hair 80's-ish and put on a head band. b sure to get the huge hoop earrings, or get those new new name earrings in the 80s everything had their name in it, well thats wat i c from my moms old pics!!!

hello.. been there, in the 80's! one thing that was very common in those days were to get you jeans in a "tapered" style: pull the leg of the jean to the side. then fold it to the center so it looks tapered. then you old it twice so it hold on place. You can also staple it, but it may ruin yout jean. these were wore with a huge shirt (lumber style) with the sleeves rolled up. a very hugh head of crazy head is necesary. You can go a step ahead wearing a "scrunchie" or scrunchy thos things for the hear that are like a piece of fabric with a band inside, so it gets scrunched. Make a pony tail to the side (necessary!) AND HUGE BANGS! Use navy blue or even better green eye liner, plastic earings with bright colors, roll your socks like a donut (just pull them up to the max and then roll them like a torrilla down so they looked rolled , or wear two different-colors pairs, for example red and purple one of each in each foot). one super idea is socks with lace like baby girl's with high patent black hills or red or purple... I would sugest you to go to any thrift store, they have all those fashions usually. Leggings you can wear them with a deni mini skirt, but again wear a pair of socks of different color. Remember that the flourescent colors were on. Leggins and a big shirt with a belt on your hips and flats were more conservative 9i think)
Cindy lauper was one of my faves those days, with "Girls just wanna have fun". Also Boy George. He used to do make up the extravaganza stayl.
Yellow high hills were top necessity, as well as seveal bangles (thin) in your hands.
In Mexico the musical group Flans were a hit, as well as Timbiriche.
Well this is it. see ya.

There were the hypercolor shirts, headbands, pretty much Madonna style - off the shoulder shirts, wide belts, bangles - almost punk of today. Look at the site below - it was a fun era w/lots of hairspray.

This website may help. I was too busy raising a family back then and didn't notice much. Except the leggings. Have fun.

Leather, long skirts, ruffled tops. Think hippie. With lots of color. Oh and also, big hair.
