How does feminism destroy the family unit?

2007-02-22 07:37:35 · answer #1 · answered by Trey 3 · 0 0

I don't know if the feminist movement is a marxist thing or not, But I do agree that it is responsible for the breakdown of the family.

I have no problem with women becoming whatever they want to be. I have no problem with women in the work place making as much or more than men. What I have a problem with is people saying that a women is selling herself short if she chooses to be a mother and a wife and not pursue a career outside of her home.

The old mentality that a girl should grow up, and get married as soon as possible, can be very dangerous. The new thinking should be that women should educate themselves and look for a good man who will take care of her and her children is the correct mentality. A woman should be strong and able to stand on her own feet, but there is nothing wrong with allowing a man to provide for your income and protect your family.

The feminist movement has devalued women. But I also agree with the person who said that television has devalued the family and the role of women. Pornography devalues and degrades women and the family. But the feminist movement has opened the door and contributed to both the television programing and pornography.

Edit***

Brandy- It is NEVER okay for men to beat their wives or treat them like second class citizens, But women can choose to stay at home with their children and not be abused or a prisoner. To say that all men who have stay at home wives are abusive is a broad and unfair statement. Abuse is not right, really it has never been right not even before the feminist movement started.

Yes. Betty Friedan (not her real name) author of the feminist mystic, was a prominent marxist. The myth of the male Patriarchy is just maxist rhetoric designed to hide the true agenda of feminism which is to destroy the family unit. This is needed in order to create the new citizen solder of the state and usher in a dictatorship of the elites

Actually the feminist movement has roots in good people who wanted to improve the lives of women. People like Susan B. Anthony.

It was just hijacked by the different groups mentioned above.

I'm not sure who is responsible for the feminist movement, but I can say this............whoever got the idea that a woman can be a good mother by dropping her kids off at daycare so that she can pursue her career, then pick them up at the end of the day so they can feast on fast food, was HORRIBLY wrong. If women want to be career women, then go for it! Women are every bit as capable as men. But if you want to be a mom, then stay home and be mom! This country has enough latch-key kids who's mother's think they can do both.

Before you start blaming feminism, try considering humanitarianism that claimed it might not be okay for woman to be treated like animals. Perhaps a husband should not be allowed to get drunk and beat his wife, keep her a prisoner in his home, or generally treat her as a second class citizen.

How does equality destroy the family unit anyway?

Remember, we live in a capitalist democracy, and the changes in social structure have much more to do with our changed economy (the move from agrarian to industrial, to post-industrial) than it ever could with an offshoot social theory.

Actually, I don't believe the Marx brothers were involved. However, Groucho was always a mischevious rascal.

No, seriously, I am pretty sure most women's movements began with castor oil but later became more violent upon the invention of exlax. Just my opinion, of course.
