I am going to get my blood drawn next week to test me for gestational diabetes, I am really nervous because they messed up while they were drawing my blood last time, I don't do too well getting my blood drawn because I always get faint and end up close to passing out, anyway, can someone tell what happens at the gestational diabetes check up? How many tubes for the blood? Are they small or long? I want to know so I am prepared, thank you.

Oh boy! I was GD with both my pregnancies, and honestly I did not enjoy the testing. I did get quite light-headed, but mainly from the fasting and sitting for nearly three hours.
Are you going for the one-hour testing?
If so, that isn't quite so bad. They only take one vial from you for that one.
If you are doing the second round of testing; the three-hour testing, then they will take your fasting blood when you get there, then have you drink the glucose (puke!), then you will wait an hour and they will take more blood, then you will wait another hour and they will take blood again, and then one more hour and the last blood will be taken.
Phew!
Good luck.
I hope all goes well for you!

You have to fast the night before, so no food or drink after midnight. Go first thing in the morning. They will draw your blood first, just one tube. Then you will drink the glucose syrup. What I had tasted like orange soda, only a bit sweeter. As soon as you finish it, let them know. They will draw your blood again (one tube) one hour after your finish the glucose syrup. If the test results are on the high end, you will be asked to take a 3 hour glucose test. It's the same process, but they take another tube of blood after 2 hours and then another after 3 hours. I get the same way when I get blood drawn, so I just close my eyes when they are doing it. I had gestational diabetes, but I was able to control it with diet. It took some discipline, but it was worth it.

It depends on the test... if it's the one-hour, they will ask you to fast for 12 hours before taking the test. They'll take one vial of blood (To me, it's a standard vial; not small, not huge). Then they'll give you a glucose drink that will have a slightly thicker feel than soda and will be very sweet--either tasting like over-sweetened sprite or orange soda. They'll want you to chug it. Then you wait an hour, and they'll take your blood again--the second time might hurt a bit more, since you'll be very tender.
If that test's results are questionable, then you'll have to take the 3-hour test. The major difference is they'll have to take blood every hour and at the beginning of the test. Take a book or some magazines with you, because you can't leave the waiting room--the lab doesn't want to take any chances that you'll do something to affect the results of the test. To make it easier for them to take the blood, make sure you've drunk plenty of PLAIN water; being well-hydrated makes your veins more accessible, so the whole process takes less time.
Also, be prepared for the lab to take more blood than you'd expect; it could be that your doctor ordered additional tests and it's easier to take blood all at once then having to poke you over and over again. At my last 3-hour, they took 7 vials of blood--4 for the diabetes test, one for the hepatitis test, and 2 for tests I couldn't begin to guess at. If you're squeamish, let the technician know ahead of time so they can accomodate you as best they can.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.
Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Well you drink a orange drink then you wait 1 hour and they take your blood only one tube i think. And i hopw you pass this test because if you do not they will make you do the 3 hour test which they take your blood a total of 4 times each time they take one tube of blood. So I really hope you pass the first time.

What is going to happen is you don't eat ANYTHING and then you go a get this drink basically like flat soda. You drink it and then you wait and then you get stuck. As far as getting stuck ask them to use the "butterfly," it is a smaller one and might help a little better for you so you don't pass out. If that may be the case the should have a bed for you to lay on just in case. You can ask to lay on that in case you do. You don't want to hurt yourself or the baby. Go with the sprite looking one it taste a little better. And gulp it like a shot or it won't go down. Good luck!
