In the past two years he has played in just four ODIs out of 45, and yet in those games he has run up scores of 41, 57, 71, and 41. Admittedly they have come a touch slowly by one-day standards, but Hameed is by nature an opener, and that department has been Pakistan's Achilles Heel since the retirement of Saeed Anwar

May be he was not performing good. But i think he was a good choice. And may be u r right that he can be a good opener.
Actually Pakistani management has chosen a poor team. The combination is very bad. Injured and out of form players are included in team. They not even included Sami. I think Wolmer is not serious with this team any more. He wants to become coach of England team and he is trying to become England coach after World cup. You can expect his sympathy with England team. If Pakistan had to play against England in World Cup. He didn't even suceeded to bring good openers for Pakistani's.
We can only pray for Pakistani's to win World cup. And Inshallah they will.

this could be a very sturdy squad which will flow far provided that their spectacular order bats responsibly and Shoaib Akhtar keeps to be greater healthful maximum appropriate interior the direction of the experience. additionally, Shahid Afridi will could desire to make contributions with the bat in each sport - he could desire to comprehend that he will score provided he keeps to be on the crease and performs for 5-10 overs. He can't shop calling himself a bowling all rounder and getting out interior the 1st 6 balls he faces. He could desire to cut back that instinct until eventually he gets his eye in. Their bowling attack is amazingly sturdy regardless of lacking Asif and Amir. Gul, Ajmal and Afridi would be a handful on those dry tracks.
