XP has built in writing. IF you have a writeable CD drive or DVD drive put a blank in the drive. Drag the files you want to write to the CD (in my computer). Select the CD and you'll get an item on the left side for "write files to CD". Follow the bouncing wizard.
It's not very fancy but it works.

Make sure you have both a blank CD and a computer that can burn them. You'll need to search around to find a burning program if you don't have one already. With the program you should be able to burn the the files onto the CD.

According to which operating system you are using, copying the file to a CD-R or CD-RW is simple as dragging and dropping the file(s).
For the older OS such as Win2K and below or Mac OS X (10.1) and below you will need cd burning software. Also, there is Linux which will require you to install cd-burning software. Which next leads to choosing the right cd-burning software. Below are helpful links. Good luck!

Start with a CD-RW so you don't waste allot of disks.
If you have a burn program that you know how to use, a little. Open it and select create a data disk. That will allow you to add picture folders, and tell you how much of the disk you are using.

first you have to have a CD burner. then you can select the pictures you want to burn, on the left side of the screen it should say copy to.... then you select your CD drive . then it should tell you , you have files waiting to be copied. then just do it. if you want to add more to the cd, you need to have a CD_RW disk. CD_R you cannot erase or add more.
