That is Auchenoglanis occidentalis otherwise known as a giraffe-nose cat. And how appropriate since its an african species in an african themed tank

I posted an answer on an earlier version, so I repost here as well. A close up would be more helpful, or just some info:

Are there any type of bristles off the nose? Maybe small and downward-pointing? Also it's hard to tell the number of fins on the back - it could be one and a rock behind the fish, two with rays, or one with rays and one without.

My first guess looking at the photo (and thinking one dorsal and a rock behind the fish) was old tiger botia (fish at the top): http://www.vergari.com/Acquariofilia/images/Janiczak_botia_helodes_3.jpg

If there are two top fins, I think the giraffe-nose is correct.

Definatly a giraffe nose, not Syno. Very nice setup, lets see, I see 13 Lab Caeruleus(all yellow), 5 deep waters, 1 Fryeri, 4 sunshine peacocks and 13 Mpimbwes or zaire type(Kapampa, Kitumba, Moba, etc.).Am I close LOL? I hope that tank is bigger than a 155 bow front(kinda what it looks like). IMO I would concentrate on the Fronts(Gibberosa), and loose a few others soon. The Fronts look great BTW.

I still say it's a Synodontis of some type, possibly S. ocellifer or S. robbianus.
Both are on this page:

One thing is for certain it's NOT a Chinese hill stream loach. For one thing, they only get about 2.5" long:

EDIT: After seeing bzzflygirls post I agree with her, looks more like Auchenoglanis occidentalis than a synodontis.

Good call!

Fish can leap, it likely jumped out close for your filter out and flopped its excess of to the position you discovered it. i imagine the catfish is a Striped Rafael Catfish, try looking on-line for it. The snail became likely eaten by the catfish or any loaches you've interior the tank, and likely, many fish eat snails (assuming the snail became the little variety you get on flora, no longer a secret Snail) Nosoop4u
