When my water broke, it started as a little trickle. But as I walked it would gush out. Sorry if tmi.
It's okay to wait for the nurse to call back since you're not having contractions currently. When the nurse does call back she/he will ask if the fluid is clear. I forget what else they ask since it's been 14 months for me.
But, keep an eye out for contractions. There was no doubt when my water broke. I immediately went to the hospital. I wasn't having contractions either. They checked me and sure enough, my water broke. They decided I should try to accelerate my labor by walking. After the 4th lap around the corridor, contractions were hitting me hard!!

Yes sounds like they've broken, what colour is the fluid? mine was pink and this trickled for nearly 24hrs then went with a gush later the next evening. Don't go longer than 48hrs because you risk infection and your baby will have to be put on antibiotics for 3 days after delivery. My waters broke early hours of Monday morning and George was born late Tuesday evening, but still needed 12 hours in special care. If your contractions haven't become regular they'll probably pop you on a drip to get you going. Good luck, hope all goes well.

If it is trickling and hasn't stopped, you have a leak. That is exactly what happened to me (at first I thought I peed my self, but when it didn't stop, had no odor or color I figured out it was a leak). I went to the hospital the next day because the nurse said that would be OK. (I called the hospital the the nurse on call said I could wait until morning or early afternoon to come in, and I was in a bit of denial so I waited) the doctor was FURIOUS that I waited. Go to the hospital now. I'm sure they will keep you because the risk of infection goes up when your water breaks. i didn't get the big gush until I was 8 cm. They induced me when I got to the hospital. They try to have the baby delivered within 24 hours after your water breaks, but they will put you on antibiotics after about 18 to cut down the risk of infection. (don't be scared by that it's just routine procedure)
Get ready, by tomorrow you will be a mommy!!!Congratulations!!!

I'd say that your waters have broken, it's different for different women, some find it's a rush whereas others find it just trickles out. The fact that you were having contractions last night probably suggests your in labour and you should make your way to hospital.

Yes this is exactly how my waters went.
I had my first baby 12 weeks ago. My waters started trickling at 10am, contractions didn't really start till about 3pm and my baby was born at half past midnight the next morning!
They just kept leaking all day until he was born. Got a bit bloody later on in the day.
You need to see your midwife/doctor to be checked out. If the baby isn't born within 24 hours of water breaking there is a risk of infection so they will need to monitor you.

Yes...your water probably broke. I am an obgyn nurse, and some women just wear a pad on their way into the hospital after their water has broken...and it's so light the pad does fine. When and if you go into the hospital...someone like me would have the doctor examine you, and if you're dialated about 3-5cm already we'd probably break you water with a thing that looks like a crochet hook....and that way you'll feel the gush. It's like putting a pin prick in a filled balloon. It can burst or it can just trickle.
Congratulations! It'll be soon now! LOL!

It sounds as though it might have done.
Sometimes they break with a gush, sometimes with a trickle, and you don't necessarily get contractions right away, it will all happen in good time, don't worry.
Most hospitals want you to go in to be checked when your waters break so make any last minute checks, make sure your bags are ready to go and get ready for the most exciting ride of your life!!
Good Luck.

Definitely could be your waters.
With my first it felt like i was wetting myself everytime I moved or laughed! So not a gush just trickles lol
With my second it was a gush followed by trickles, so it can go either way.
You do need to be seen by the midwife, she can check you over and advise you of the procedure in your area. Some places like to have you in so they can keep an eye, other places will send you home for a couple of days to see if things start on their own.
Congratulations...not long now until you have your baby in your arms :o)

Wow...this sounds familiar!!
With my first pregnancy it was a gush.
With my second it was a trickle....and this was just this past September.
I was leery and went about my business; it was about 10pm. I then went to bed. Woke the next morning, carried on and finally around 1pm called the nurse.
They wanted me in and yes, my water had broken.
What happens is that you don't always break your bag of waters at the bottom....it can break at the top (which is what mine did). When that happens you will get a "slow leak" ...trickle.
Sorry....but stop reading and get in to the OB. You are going to have a baby. HOoray for you!!!

it's possible they are going to want to know the color the smell how much and stuff like that so it's a good idea to put a pad on if you already haven't. if your water has broken which they can't tell you for sure with out you coming in and testing the fluid you'll have to deliver within 2 hours to avoid infection to you and the baby. It's is also possible that your just leaking urine an da lot of preg. women do this they just don't knwo they do, it's very comon b/c in preg. you can't fully empty your bladdar thats why they test you for UTI atevery visit. Good luck !
