I know the techniques to get it straight but thats not what i need. I basically built a bass myself and used a cheap neck and the strings are humming far too much even after adjusting the bridge. I need to adjust the bow up (forward) just a bit but totally forget if the nut at the top of the truss rod is to be loosened or tightened to bow it forward. Thanks

do no longer stress the truss rod. in case you won't be able to restoration it your self, take it to a guitar keep, an entire setup might fee you slightly, yet whats up you basically paid $80 for the bass interior the 1st place btw an entire setup might fee you $20-$30, plus the fee of latest strings, that are many times an non-obligatory area of a setup, seeing as bass strings are rather high priced while in comparison with guitar ones, so that is rather less expensive rather, if I have been given a bass that fee effectively and the action wasn't spectacular i might definitely get it set up professionally
