I think that never showing the killers face makes the horror greater. When the killers face is shown it lowers the thrill for me.

I've tried to analyze myself on this question - it's not for the thrills anymore, I'm already desensitized to horror movies. It's definitely not for their originality, because none of them have that anymore.

I think the main fun comes from seeing how they kill off the cast in different/creative ways or seeing stupid teenagers get what they deserve. It's the only thing I've come up with so far.

having a actual story with lots of suspense. Not just killing and screaming. The best ones I've seen are more to do with sci-fi type than just some dude killing people.

The fact that it plays on peoples real fears (no special effects needed). Like the first Halloween scares the hell out of me!

The anticipation. The way it makes your heart beat. and the "reward"--- getting to cuddle with your boyfriend at all the good parts and having him make you feel safe. I swear, the love between me and my boyfriend has increased dramatically just from the connection and bonding we get from watching scary movies :-)

you need a good plot, a good story, and a good twist. i think a twist can be the best part of a horror movie

A good horror movie is realistic. Not that squeeky steps fake dribble crap.

I think the more psychology used in the movie, the better and the musical score.

The suspense. It's no good if random zombies just jump out of no-where and start chopping up people if theres no plot.. it just makes me laugh.. actually..
