I just started learning to play guitar, well I started learning when I was 15 but only played for a year and a half(that was 6 years ago). I'm practicing about four to five hours every other day because after a day of playing my fingers are so raw that I have to wait a day before I practice again. Ive been going like this for about a week(four days of practice, three days of healing time) and I can barely notice any difference in the toughness of my fingers.

How long does it take for your fingers to get nice and tough?

don't play so much in a day. It took me a week and a half of playing every day for 1-2 hours or less. Take it easy on the practice time and the calluses will come soon. Once you have those calluses, go for those long practice sessions

The time varies. It usually takes a couple weeks to get them to toughen up, but in the meantime you need to break up your practice time. Practice about an hour everyday isn't of 4 hours one day, then healing for the next 4. This will help your calluses develop a little better, and it won't hurt as bad.
Good luck!

If your practicing that much it will only take a couple months. If your learning on a nylon string guitar it would take a little longer. After a while your fingers will be calloused enough to practice as much as you want, but your hands will continue to get sore for years, every time you learn a new technique

It took me less than a month. I'm sure its different with different people. Just keep at it. As time goes on you'll be able to play longer. I'm at the point now that I can play everyday for several hours at a time and not feel a thing. Well, except when I play Slayer. Then my hand starts to get tired.

It took me a couple weeks. Just play through the pain. It will never hurt again.
