Hi, Im planning a formal dance for my 8th grade class. It has a "Hollywood" theme. Any ideas or websites that can help with planning or cheap things we could use. Please, no kiddy ideas. We are 13 and 14 year olds.
Thank You!

We have already decided to have a red acarpet, give out oscar like prizes for best dressed, best hair, nicest, etc. We are also having a talent contest.

You could make "swag bags" with school stuff in them, or stuff from sponsors,(perfume samples, etc) a red carpet, complete with papparazi (yearbook staff or teachers?) I know at most of our school dances there was a place to get your photos done, so you could have that be a part of the papparazi area on the way in when everybody is still "fresh". You could serve sparkling cider in plastic champagne flutes. Have little luxuries around- Maybe an area for girls to "touch up" their makeup.
Your school may have a trophy shop that they use, so you may be able to get some little statues made for awards.
If there is going to be food, remember- presentation is everything!

I would have a red carpet. You could make Oscars and hand them out for Best Singer, Best looking, all the class superlatives.

13 is still pretty much a child so I dunno I think that theme is a little too mature for ya'll. I don't think most 13 year olds ever watch the Oscars.
