i know aristotle elaborated on eudoxus's explanations of outer space motion by increasing the number of spheres to 55. how did the idea begin? and how does the heliocentric spheres idea work?

a planetary system. It consisted of spheres, the earth being still and at the center. Twenty-seven concentric spheres rotate around the earth. The stars are fixed and are carried by the exterior sphere. The remaining spheres are the sun, moon, and five planets. Each of the five planets has four spheres, the planet itself, the sun, and the moon.

Try here .. it was part of the great thoughht that put astronomy in the dark for over 1000 years by putting the earth at the center of the universe. It was a great leap in thought but the pits for real science.
