This will sound wierd but... When most women would get PMS I get something else. Every month, a week before I start my period I begin obsessivly cleaning my house, my car, and when I finished with that I'll clean my sisters house. I will go on for nearly twenty hours, not eating, not resting and barely sleeping. It will go on until I get my period. Then I go back to normal, until next month. My doctor put me on antidepressants, but that only made it worse. The symptoms would last for the entire month. Nothing is helping and I'm driving my husband nuts! Everytime he goes to get something, I've reorganized and it's someplace else. If anyone knows what this is or knows how to help, I would really appreciate it. So would my husband:)

you might have PMDD- Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder.
but it sounds more to me like you might be bi-polar.
try more counseling and different depressants. i went on 3 different kinds before i found one that worked for my panic disorder.

It sounds like obsessive compulsive disorder. Certainly not the looney bin. Since it started with your periods. i.e. hormone changes maybe it can be fixed simply with a HORMONE not a antidepressant. Why don't you try a different doctor. Get some blood work done. Maybe as you are aging your levels of some hormone are going completely nuts.
But if it is really ocd they have a lot of ways to help with that.
If its a simple hormone imbalance they may be able to fix that.
Get another doctor.

You are amazing. If you live near me, please come over and clean my house. Stop taking your medication and clean my house. Your husband is sooooo lucky, I'm still having a hard time seeing the problem. If you're given lemons make lemon aid.
So let me get this straight: One week before your period you go "crazy" and clean like you have OCD. And your husband has a problem with it.
That's like me having a problem with my wife being to pretty or her being too smart. I think the problem is how one perceives the issue. What he deems as a curse others see as a blessing.
Your alright in my book.

I'm not a big fan of antidepressants. Have you consulted with a doctor about birth control pills? Both my daughters have had various difficulties relating to their monthly periods and their doctors have put them on birth control prescriptions to help straighten out their issues.
Otherwise, start a cleaning business part-time? Maybe hubby won't mind if you're getting paid to clean.

Did the doctor check your hormone levels? Sounds to me like they are WAY out of whack. I would definitely go see your gynecologist and if that's who you did see, go see a different one. There is a condition that has to do with this--I can't think of it off the top of my head--but you feel like your mind is no longer your own and it happens during ovulation. Please get your hormones checked and see a good doctor. Antidepressants? Good grief. Wrong choice there. You aren't depressed. And if you take antidepressants when you don't have a chemical imbalance in your brain, it WILL make you worse.

I go through the same thing. I have this terrible feeling everything is dirty and unorganized. My husband owns a moving company so this is when I organize and schedule all my pack jobs. Its effective and does not drive anyone in my house nuts.

You need to get away, call me and you can come clean my house. This will accomplish several things, my house will be clean so I can quit stressing about it, that will save me my trip to the loony bin, and your husband will not see you freaking out because you'll be here so you won't go to the loony bin either. When you're done cleaning and organizing my house we'll go out for drinks.

Well, the symptoms sound like hormone induced bi polar disorder with an emphasis on the manic phase...
Can your doctor not prescribe something to be taken only during that period?
And it's looney - not loney...lol

This is called PMDD.It affects many women.Myself included.Go to your doctor and let him know about your symptoms and they will give you medication and information.
pmdd stands for pre mentrual disphoric disorder. It is basically depression like symptoms leading to your period.caused by the horomonal inbalance.Although cleaning and not eating and not sleeping doesn't sound like depression, these are very common traits in people with manic depression. But it's not. It's just PMDD.

I think you are confusing PMS with compulsive disorders, although your hormones may influence these episodes. Talk with your doctor about a medication to treat OCD, I think it would be more helpful than an antidepressant.

It almost sounds like you are nesting. Have the two of you talked about having a baby soon? You just want everything to be right around you. It could be worse. He should consider it a blessing and not trip.
