It is true that many doctors won't see you until you're nearly through your first trimester. That's not the same as waiting until you are 5 months pregnant though! Also, most women CALL their doctor when they find out they are pregnant, to set up their first appointment. At the time of that phone call, a nurse will talk to you about things you HAVE to know during the first few months - vitamins, precautions, etc. They will also usually take your information at that time and send you pamphlets about all that stuff, like why you can't eat certain fish, and cheeses, and things like that. They'll also give you exercises to begin to do, and a list of things to watch out for, symptoms and such. So my suggestion is to at least CALL and set up an appointment - if you have to wait until you are further along you can talk to them about that during your call and they should be able to tell you whether, given your particular situation, that would be okay or not. They would also be able to help you with $$ if that's the concern. Good luck!!

It is a MUST to see the doctor the moment you find out you are pregnant. There are many blood test and screenings that need to be done. Why would you want to wait.. is the important to make sure you and the baby are healthy. If some of these tests are not ran .. you could have alot of problems before birth. You need to see if you are Rh- and they do a pap smear to make sure you do not have any STD's or anything life threatening to the baby. Ultra sounds are done to make sure the baby is growing at a healthy rate. JUST GO TO THE DOCTOR!!

I don't think it's a must. I have a friend that didn't have insurance when she first got pregnant and didn't go in to see a doctor until she was 6 months. My opinion is starting going now. Most doctors won't see you until your at least 7 or 8 weeks along anyways. Good luck to you.

The sooner you see a doctor, the better. That way they can make sure it's not multiples, or the baby has a heartbeat, or it's the right size for its "age", or that it's not just a molar pregnancy, that the baby's healthy and youre healthy...yeah, you need to go as soon as possible, because the sooner problems are diagnosed the better the chance of them being treated properly. Plus you can tell what gender your baby is after the 3rd month!

I would say it is necessary, the first 3 months are the most critical. You will get a more accurate due date based on the babys size right now rather than waiting until you are further along. Also to make sure everything is growing properly. You should be getting some prenatal care.

I don't know if it's a MUST. Most docs won't see a woman until the end of her third month anyway. Many are taking 12-week appointments. If you have to wait because of insurance reasons, I'd still go talk to the county's health department and see if they have any suggestions for you. Depending on your family history, your own health issues or anything that you could have been exposed to prior to your pregnancy, you may be advised to see someone. Good luck.

your first 3 months are very important because thats when ever your baby gets all of it's organs...they're not developed completely but they have formed...and that means they can tell alot in an ultrasound about your baby like heart promblems or anything. And an ultrasound is the ONLY way to tell exactly about how far along you are..and you could be already be 4 months and not know it...because my periods but not have came right and i thought i was about 8 weeks and come to find out at my 1st ultrasound i was about 14 weeks.

you should go see the doctor throughout your WHOLE pregnancy, not just half of it. call and make an appointment for a prenantal visit, they will ask the day of your last period, and some dont even see you until 8 or 12 weeks. but you need to go to the doctor to make sure the baby is developing as it should be, that everything is going well!!!

you can go and see a doctor when ever you want to in pregnancy, although it may be better to go see them as early as possible, so they can keep a check on you and the baby's health, also you may want to see the 3 month scan, if you wait til 5 months you will miss out!
