The "meat pile" is sadly prodigious. Justice would want Jenn and Barbie on it with the royal Brit kid. One is tempted to say that the sun will grow to a red giant and swallow the earth in some billions of years, but the policy left unchanged, long before that end the USA would be bankrupted and look not unlike Baghdad does now.

Take infinity and add a few weeks. Each city in history gets one shot at being a center of knowlege: Istanbul is now crime-ridden, Rome is fairly ugly and polluted once you're out of the historic ditrict and in to Trastevere (where I live), as a matter of fact, the Colluseum is covered in black soot, Madrid is getting poor, Cairo's issues are too long to describe (A few are pollution, poverty, and traffic),and Moscow's depressing. The only cities that have been world powers for the last 200 years and still are are London, New York, and (to a smaller extent) Paris and Tokyo.
Oh, and just 'cause a city is Muslim does NOT mean it won't be civilized. New York was doing major port deals with an Arabian company.

The only "model cities" in the Middle East you will ever see are those in Israel. You will never see civilized city, let alone nation as long as it is Islamic.
