Hello again:

Someone gave me a printer that may work but the off and on switch is broken. I looked inside and a pin seems to be away from its original position. The printer is an IBM 4029. I know this is an old model printer but I had one some time ago and it printed fantastically. So much so, that when it printed, the characters were raised from the sheet of paper and they were crystal clear.

My question is, if the off and on switch is broken, does that mean the printer is broken too?

Is there a way I can fix the switch myself?

Thanx
beccan

There's really no way of knowing if the Printer itself is broken until you get power to if via the switch connection. The easiest way of finding this out is to bypass the switch and direct wire the connection together, then just plug it into the wall and see if it actually prints or not.
If you're not comfortable with wiring then find a friend that is to do it for you.
Then if it does indeed work, replace the switch.
