Alan bought a defective pedometer. For every 2 miles Alan walks the pedometer says he walks 5 miles. The pedometer says he walked 100 miles, how many miles did he actually walk??

100 / 5 = 20
20 * 2 = 40

You are basicaly multiplying by 5/2 because he only walked 2 out of every 5 it says he did

All you have to do is divide 100 by 5. Then multiply the answer of the earlier problem by 2. That's how many miles she walks.

divide the 5 into 100 and you'll get 20
