web accelerators work by commpressing data at the servers end and then uncompressing at your end, very similar to when you download a game in zip format and then unzip it using a program such as win-zip or winrar
by compressing internet pages ,foe example a page may be 500k uncompressed, and by compressing it you can shrink it down to 200k,then obviously it will take less time to travel via the internet
a program called on-speed(http://portal.onspeed.com/?rf=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.onspeed.com%2Findex.php)works this way ,but they used data compression used by the u.s military so its got to be quite good
the google accelerator is probally the best of the free accelerators but from experience the increase is only small
normally if you are using broadband and you need to use a accelerator then you need to scan for malware with anti spyware and anti-virus tools, you will be suprised how malware can slow down a internet connection
also a simple reboot of your broadband router(turn off for 30 seconds and then turn back on)can increase connection speeds by up to 50%,i do this every week on my bt home hub
good luck

Looks like it is a personal caching proxy, if I am reading it right. With the high speed connections people use today it would often end up slowing pages down, especially if they change often. As more and more sites use dynamically generated pages, a caching proxy becomes more and more of a liability than an asset.

I used it before and it seems to work. I do know I kept getting messages that it interfered with TVU player and some anti-virus software.
