She's competent for the type of music she does. You don't need to be a great singer for pop music. I believe she took lessons and improved her technique in preparation for "Evita". She doesn't have the range and singing ability as say Christina Aguilera or Whitney Houston.

i think she is a great singer. she sings on key and can really belt out those notes.
