I have a Panasonic Digital Video Recorder with a hard drive.
When I record to the hard drive then copy to the DVD writer, I can not play it in my domputer dvd writer. It shows the dvd is written but can not read the format. What software can I use to read and edit these DVD-R disks on my IBM compatible computer?
Any help is appreciated.........

Yes, I did finalize it on the original machine. My computer still can not see any files on the drive. Its like it is a format my machine doesnt read. DVD plays good on other dvd players, just not on my computer.
Feels like I need different software to read the dvd-r disk.

Hi powerlifter,

Did you finalize the DVD? Check your manual for the DVR and see how you finalize the DVD. Then it should play on other units.

Edit:
Am I understanding correctly that you have it on your hard drive then burn it to a DVD on your computer and the drive that burned it can't read it?

If so I would suspect your burning process is flawed. Try a different burning program and see if that works. I have had great luck with Nero and DVD Shrink. You can read about & get DVD shrink free here - http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_shrink.cfm

i'm gonna accept as true with Andrew S, explorer is undesirable for burning issues (yet not in homestead windows 7!! yay!!) . i take advantage of imgburn (google it), and it has eradicated a lot of my cd/dvd burning woes. i take advantage of it on vista the place i had issues and additionally xp. the two artwork nice with imgburn. Clicking on the force itself with a sparkling disc in *will* assist you to already know that there is not a disc in, by using fact homestead windows fails. wish this enables!
