I'm 16 and am applying for my first job, probably somewhere like a gas station or the ymca. I just don't know of anyone besides my soccer coach to use as a reference. I don't have any kind of volunteer experience, neighbors, or teachers that I'm close with/have a good relationship with to put down as a reference. Who else could I put down? Do employers really look at references? Will it make it impossible or less likely to be hired if I only have one reference?

That would be impossible.
Think of all the people you know.
You don't necessarily have had to work with a person to get a reference.
Friends parents, teachers, coaches etc.. are all good references.
