I would be some kind of bird, just so I could fly. Not a tiny bird, because I'd have to watch my back constantly. Not a bird of prey either, because friends would be few and far between. Parhaps a crow, or a seagull. They can eat almost anything and survive almost anywhere. And if for some reason they can't, they just move to another region! :)

Survivable, fairly intelligent, and as free as the wind itself.

A Butterfly, because they are prettty and they get to fly free. Or a gull, like in Jonathan Livingston Seagull (the book)

An orca. Smart, free, and safe from most anything. But I wouldn't like to eat seals and fish. Gross.

ferret, because they are always in a good mood, and they are hyper, funny, playful, smart, and they can keep themselves entertained for hours!!
