I don't know if there is any ballroom store in Sacramento. Check and see if local studios sell dance shoes - sometimes they do. There are 2 stores in San Francisco Bay Area - one is Ballroom Connection http://www.ballroomconnection.com and the other is Ballroom Dance Supply http://www.bds.com If it is your first pair it is best to have it fitted at the store rather than buying on-line. If you have to buy on-line http://www.featherdanceshoes.com is a good resource for inexpencive brands. Otherwise, if you want professional quality to to http://www.supadance.com. Do not buy from e-bay until you know exactly what are you doing - fittings can be tricky. Your street shoe size is not always the same as ballroom shoe size.

Actually, the best place to buy ballroom shoes is appledanceshoes.com. They are so much cheaper than regular dance shoes and are very well made. I have ordered 3 pairs from them and all have been fabulous.

Normally, you buy your regular size, but if you're an American you have to factor in the possibility that you're buying British-sized shoes, and a size four (UK) is about the same as a 5 1/2 or 6 (US) for ladies.
