It really doesn't matter whether you take it on the day it starts or the Sunday after, as long as you follow the specific directions they have for either way on the pack. However, most doctors say that starting it on a Sunday is a more reliable, effective way to control the hormones. I have no idea why. Also, on a convenient note, if you start them on a Sunday, you can pretty much predict when you're going to start right down to the hour!!! (My boyfriend and I have actually nicknamed it "Tuesday" because it is always the 4th Tuesday of the month. Really helpful for scheduling vacations and figuring out when not to wear khaki pants.)

I personally have been on the pill for years, my body is used to it I take my pill on Sunday but if I forget I'll just take it Monday several hours before I take my Monday pill. If your just starting to use bc pill do as the doctor says because your body needs to adjust & except it (pill) keep in mind that the pill is only effective if taken exactly as perscribed. your chances of pregnancy increase if you adjust your pill in any way.

Why are you questioning your doctor's instructions? Take it when he tells you to take it.
