My favorite is that you tend to be too dedicated and sometimes can be almost obsessive about the quality of your work. Explain that you prefer an enviroment where excellence and dedication to your work is rewarded, and ask them if this company is that type of company.

Bottom line is you don't want to come off as not having any flaws, everyone does. But indicate that you are aware of them and that you're looking for a place where that flaw is beneficial to your employer. Always put your self in the shoes of your employer - what do they look for in an employee? What problems do they need to solve by hiring you?

A: Probably being a perfectionist. Sometimes I am unable to move on to another task until I am certain the first is exactly right. Because of that, I feel I overthink or become too critical of my own work, which in turn reduces how much I might get done in a day.

It's a catch 22 answer, but it is still positive and shows you truly care about what you're doing. Hope this helps.

My personal weakest trait is cleaning up the details at the end of a project. I do it but I dont like it.

Try to think of something that might be reasonably positive to the job you wish, or at least isnt terribly negative. (an intolerance for slackers?)

I love this question. I usually admit to the horrible fault of being a little too detail oriented. Like employers aren't looking for someone who's going to spend time and attention on what they're doing! Pick something that is true about yourself that is actually a good thing and make it sound horrible. Works like a charm! Oh, and good luck.

I think it is important to be honest but at the same time tell them what you are doing to improve this quality/trait. I think people often try to say something that actually sounds favorable like, "I work too hard." That just seems really lame. I think it is better to be honest but show that you are taking action to improve. One thing that I like to say is that I often perceive advice as criticism. This is true. I don't often like to get advice when I don't ask for it. When somebody gives me advice, I perceive it as if I'm doing something wrong, when that is really not their intent at all. I think this shows potential employers that you are concerned about taking intitiative to do your work competently without assistance from others.

I say that I am a perfectionist who doesn't want to let tasks go once I have taken ownership of them.

The important thing is to know how to handle the usual follow up question, which is: 'Can you cite an example of that and how it caused a problem for you?'

To which I reply, 'There was one time I was working on blah blah blah, and another department got mad at me because I was doing some of their work too, and they felt I was encroaching on them or that I thought they were incompetent.'

So I've answered the question and made myself look dedicated and a 'take-charge' kind of person. :-)

For me, that's much better than answering honestly, which would be something like, 'I like to show up late and leave early'. :-/

Don't say anything bad, just cut it short and move on. I would try to control my part of the conversation, who knows, maybe you will be a better communicator than the person interviewing you.

Word it in a positive way.

Say "I am reserved when working with children, so they can get to know me." instead of, "I am standoffish around children."

"I am very detailed oriented." instead of, "I am obsessive about my work."

"I am a hard worker and put in the time needed to get the job completed correctly." instead of, "I am a workaholic."
