If your reason for writing is merely to get rich, then you will never be successful. Successful writers write because they want to write. Writing is a craft, not a lottery. You have to hone the craft. This means you must practice, practice, practice.

There is no "magical formula" to writing success. If there was, publishers wouldn't have to spend so much money publishing the tens of thousands of books that sell less than 5,000 copies each. Yes, for every huge bestseller, the major publishers also published hundreds of smaller, niche books that sold less than 5,000 copies.

I think you need to rethink your goals and then decide if writing is really what you want to do.

You write what you know.

Many people try to go with writing something that they're not 100% comfortable with because they think people will like it more. It usually turns out to be shoddy work. Do what you're best at.
