Is it fair that the Welsh buy homes in England?
What is not fair is that any person buying a second home as an investment or as a holiday home, reduces the availability of housing for people in any community and this also drives up the prices (by increasing the demand), which makes houses too expensive for most people to buy.
Ideally given the increased pressure on resources there should be a limit to the number of houses a person can own. But this would be impractical and hard to control.
What might work is extremely higher taxes on investment or holiday homes to reduce the practice, and the revenue created to be used within the community for improvements, such as social care, environmental protection etc.

"All" the homes? Really? Is that fact, or just some random "truth" you've been told? Lots of Welsh people buy homes in England too. Are you suggesting that it's OK for welsh people to do that, but not vice versa? Should we make everyone sell up, send the Welsh back to Wales, the English back to England, demolish the 2 bridges, and never let each other in or out again?

NO
As in so many attractive rural areas the prevalence of second/holiday homes is ever on the increase. It's not just in Wales; The lakes, Exmoor,Dartmoor,Cornwall all suffer. The clout of hard cash will always win. As a result young people can't afford to stay in the home area, yet not enough is done to provide affordable housing stock.
I remember a time when the slogan;- 'Come home to a real fire. Buy a holiday home in Wales' was funny enough to be on 'Not The Nine O'clock News'.

No, but the English (especially the Home Counties) probably have more economic clout than the Welsh so it will happen

No. Anyone buying a second home anywhere should be liable for an extremely high rate of tax.
Holiday homes and buy-to-let properties are destroying the social fabric of this country. The rich get richer and the poor get nada.

Depends. If people are migrating because of work that's a necessity. I know the National Parks have stopped non local people buying properties for holiday homes in Wales.
