Well, technically, nobody "invented" country- it's just sort of a hybrid of gospel songs and old slave songs that got combined with guitars, fiddles and banjos back in the day when all the hillbillies and pioneers and whatnot had nothing better to do than play and sing songs from church. But I'm sure they never meant for it to get this truly awful.

Invented? It's always been there1 Modern country music is just music in the folk idiom that hasn't been around long enough to be described as folik.

none of these people have the right answer. it developed over time with cowboys singing around the fire at night when on cattle drives and things like that. it is the truest form of american music which would later be followed by jazz, blues, rock and roll, etc. I dont like country music but it is the first real american art form. so im giving credit to where credit is due.
