I went in May last year, it was brilliant.
Laganas beach is really nice, and the place is quite laid back and not too large. You can get to know people, you tend to see them most nights as there aren't so many places to go, just enough to keep you entertained.
I'm going again in June.

I went to Laganas a few years ago and it was far from idyllic but it depends what you want from a holiday.

The beach is used as a road and cars park on it all the time. A lot of the bars cater for british tourists and are all concentrated around one area - again depends what you want. It's lively but quite compact.

The weather was great but the standard of accomodation seemed pretty poor (ours certainly was!).

My opinion - not the pretiest of the greek islands and Laganas is lacking in charm although I cant speak for the rest of the island. If you want a lively holiday with mates it may be ok, but even then, I think there are better places to go. I really loved Paphos in Cyprus - was beautiful, great restaurants, a lively area if you wanted it but quieter bars if you didnt, beautiful weather, friendly people and cheap once you are there. Would definitely go back.

Went to Kalimaki a couple of years ago, got quite bored of the main strip just up and down one boring man made road. No old village or little side streets to explore. Laganas is like Blackpool girls getting boobs out etc. Love greece, not Zante. My fave is crete.

It's changed a lot over the last few years but the best resort for me is Tsilivi.
It's spread out a bit more than it used to be but it caters for all ages and you can have a quiet night out or go to fun bars or discos.A lot of good restaurants and you can eat to suit your pocket.
Laganas is for the young noisy crowd so it depends on your age.

Avoid July-August. Too many tourists.
