The quietest was one of those faint tones they play you through headphones for a hearing test. I have also heard ants squeaking through a towel while lying on the grass. They "stridulate" by rubbing plates of their body armour together, but so far nobody has found out if this is for communicaton or something else.

The loudest was when I was living in Japan and a couple of local musicians invited me to a jam in a small studio. They were big fans of Jimi Hendrix and distortion and they had enough amplifying power to knock down a tall building. I had to leave after about 20 minutes for the sake of my ears. Lightning hitting our block of flats out of the blue one night was also pretty loud.

Everyone had different ranges of sounds hat they can and can't hear. Some people can hear really quiet things but cannot differentiate between two loud noises. However some people might be able to instantly recognize but cannot hear soft noises.

For me, the quietest sound was a small, dried out leaf hitting grass.

The loudest was a loud Horn and an avalanche.

The quietest could be almost anything - sound fades away so hearing any faint sound at the threshold of hearing would be the quietest.

The loudest was when the building I was standing outside was struck by lightning - it deafened and blinded everyone for about 15 seconds.

My son once bought a record of "silence" I played it and could'nt hear a b....y thing, waste of money I thought but it was quite, quite quiet if silence can be deemed quietest. .
The loudest was hearing a battery of guns going off all together, result burst eardrums. That was loud but I would suggest you request some Japanese people of the 1940 era the answer to the same question .

Loudest was my then boyfriends stereo coming on timer in the middle of the and the song it choose to play was queens we will rock you. We both got the shock of our lives as it came on full blast and it was a tiny little room, I thought a plane had landed on the house. Quietest was at the mormon tabernacle in Utah, they drop a pin at one end of this huge building and you can hear it about four hundred feet away, they do it to show how good the accoustics in there are. The most boring day of my life was listening to the choir there warble on for hours.

The quietest was George Bush admitting the mistakes he made, and the loudest would have to be the sound of Dick Cheney's shotgun going off when he shot his friend in the face.

Hi,

I have super sensitive hearing and can here things most people can't for example a dog whistle that is supposedly out of the humans hearing range i can hear, or at least feel in my ear.

The loudest noise i have experienced was concorde landing during an airshow my ears hurt afterwards and i could feel the rumble in my chest!
