Changing the engine is expensive and could be illegal depending on what state you live in. A good option would be to have your block sleeved and have low compression forged pistons put in. This will allow you to run a turbo kit pretty safely, but your going to need a big turbo, a full fuel system, a engine managment system, and a large exhaust. Plus many other parts.

for 1 spice man is ***. but the way to go is get a b20 non vetc block old crv motor and get a b16 or b18 vetc head and do a conversion all you do is drill a hole for oil system for the vetc head and a ecu from a vetc b series motor and a knock sensor 220+ at whells stooock internals

a k24 block with a k20 head and up the displacement is a good way to go and put a turbo on it
