I have an invention and it's not been patented yet. I have a different invention that I want to keep and manufacturer so I want to sell my one idea to fund the other. What is the process for selling an idea? This is a great idea and I am sure I could sell it and make a huge amount of money. Let me know what you all think. Has anyone sold an idea to a company and made a killing on it?

Get a patent lawyer or a firm that specializes in this (watch out for cons). They'll assist you in filing for patent protection. Until you do that, you're at risk. Unless you trust others and have NDA's signed, it's risky to shop around your idea.

Once you have some form of protection, you'll need to find potential buyers. Most companies will not take unsolicited ideas. The best thing to do, especially if you have a patent pending, is to attend an invention fair or similar event. Hope that a corporate buyer stops by your booth and likes your idea.

No but a friend invented a new type baby kitchen seat. Patent it before you do anything, it is not that difficult to do. Next, if you lack resources or funding to manufacture it on your own, go to an existing company and see if you can work together (just make sure you hold the patents first and have a good attorney).
