I like the lights off because it makes the room feel like a theater. But I have one light on for a scary movie.

watchin the tv with no light at all is bad for your eye's. Some ambiant light is the way to go. Maybe a lamp with a DIMMER SWITCH or a light on in an adjacent room with the door open just a crack
