My husband is having a vasectomy tomorrow and is a little nervous about it. He is having the incision free technique...does that also mean pain free? We made the appt. for a Friday with the hope that he an return to work on Monday? Anyone else have the incision from vasectomy? How long until you got back to work?

I had mine done about 20 years ago and had some bruising and swelling for a day or so, Pain was a dull ache nothing too serious, well worth the worry free sex that comes later i thought the worst part was a few weeks later when you have to give samples to see if it contains any sperm (embarrasing when the doctors receptionist holds the pot up for all to see while she writes your name on it lol )

My husband had his on a Thursday (the incision kind) and went back to work on Monday. He's a truck driver. He said the surgery was a breeze however he does extremely regret having it done because he is experiencing a rare side effect where your body becomes allergic to the sperm that enters the bloodstream and he is constantly broken out in hives and has joint pain.

He should receive info for post care when he has the procedure done. This procedure tends to do very well and his post op discomfort will be minimal. He'll also receive pain medications. Prior to the procedure he will receive medication to enable him to relax and possibily, sleep.

It's generally not too bad. I know of many guys that have had them, and only one had extra bruising and swelling. So, have some ice packs ready!

Have plenty of icepacks handy. Do not have a "honey do' list for him this weekend. He will be out of commission for a week or so.
