Me and my boyfriend are going to London and Paris the first week of May. Can anyone tell me any good places to eat that might not be in the travel books. I want to find a decent place to have a nice dinner with my boyfriend in both cities. Not too pricey and not too cheap either.
I also want to know if there are any shops or other places worth seeing, that arent in the travel books, as well.

Thank you!!!

I have a little travel blog that may be helpful to you.

The best thing I can say for food in Paris is: Just walk around the city, go into some local neighborhoods and eat where the locals do. People may not be so willing to speak to you in English in these spots, but the price, atmosphere and food will be better. Also, after lunch go to a bakery, grap a baguette, walk to the Eiffel Tour and lay on the lawn enjoying your true French Bagguette (this helps if you go to a reasturant in on of the neighborhoods around the Eiffel Tour)! Enjoy!

My favorite hangout in Paris is Aux trois Mailletz at 56 rue Galand in the 5th arr,

Its a bar/restaurant/nightspot.

Their food is good and reasonably priced.

There's a piano on the ground floor and various singers perform everything from blues to Opera.

In the basement there's a nightclub sort of scene right out of the 1950's (Think Stork Club).

Its mainly a very friendly place with a good mix of people.

In Paris: Cafe Benjamin on Rue du Rivoli (great food, cute place) or the cafe on top of the Semaritaine Department Store (great view).

In London: Samuel Pepys. It's down a little alley way near St. Pauls Cathedral. Once you're inside, it's really cute and you have a view of the river and the Globe Theater across it.

You won't find any of these in the guide books, but they are great.
