You don't "become" gay because you have been abused or are emotionally disturbed. Let him tell you when he is ready.

If he tells you, it means he is. There is a senior guy at my high school who has quite the feminine side, and there is a junior guy who is gay and acts like the 'average' 17 year old guy. The only way you can tell is if HE tells you, not a doctor or psychiatrist. If you just assume it, (PARDON MY OPINION) you are not a very good parent. Accusing someone of being gay by the way they act is WRONG. There is nothing wrong with being gay. I am straight and I see that.

Wow, stereotypes really suck, don't they?

It really does sound like hes gay. I mean, most guys, especially after puberty, if they are str8, like girls sexually and have some guys as friends. But not all I suppose, so try not to jump to conclusions. Just give him time, you could even ask him (theres never a good time to ask you just have to do it).

Whatever you do, make sure you support him completely. I don't know if he's a teenager or not but I know it took me until I was about 17 to figure out my sexuality, and in the years following I slowly became more comfortable with things.

Good luck. If he is gay like I said, support him, make him feel comfortable and like theres nothing wrong with it, because there isn't.

those things could indicate he is gay or could be totally unrelated. Obviously he has issue and those could be related to his sexuality or could be a gender idenity issue too. As for him never having been abused, how do you know that? Just because you did not abuse him does not mean he was not abused by someone. Kids rarely tell when that happens to them even if you ask them directly.

being abused and mistreated have nothing to do with the fact that he is gay (if he is). I know men who walk, talk and act feminine...who set my gaydar over the top...but they seem to be happily married with kids...in their 50's(not likely to leave their families and come out). If he is gay, he's still your son..and still needs you...but I have no idea of how you'll find out if he doesn't tell you. You don't say how old he is so it's difficult to say much.

sexual orientation has nothing to do with abuse... if he is still a teen, then he may just be sorting out his true feelings. no need for him to rush into putting a label on himself, and he certainly doesn't need family members pressuring him to identify himself.. his sexual orientation is something he, and only he, can figure out. and bottom line, there's nothing you can do to speed up the process.. if anything pressure will only do him harm. his sexual orientation is also none of anybody's business but his own..

femininity doesn't necessarily mean he is gay. he could be bi, or even transgendered, or maybe straight but confused or curious..
