the best one in my opinion was the original grand theft auto. it had tons of missions, and great replay value. it has all the cities that the newer games are set in. tons of hidden weapons and vehicles and all around was and awesome game and it started the franchise..

The best GTA is San Andreas. It has the best story line and the most gameplay features. You can become fat or muscular by eating too much or excercising in gyms. You can gain stamina and other statistics to improve your character. And you can also swim this time around, so no more instant water death.

It would have to be San Andreas in my opinion. All of the free roam capabilities, plus the wide variety of vehicles and side missions make it a game that I can turn on anytime and enjoy.

San Andreas for the most abilities,shooting two guns at a time,you can swim(no more failing a mission because you fell in),fly planes,etc...and you build up your skills,also I love San Ferrio!!
...but VC has the best soundtrack.
