you may have bought the wrong seal for your toilet. if you got the new seal from a hardware or home improvement store, it might be a "fit-z-all" style seal. go to a plumbing supply house that sells your brand of toilet and get the seal made for yours. this happened in a house that my family owned, except that our toilet only had a trickle of a leak, and it was never noticed until the floor rotted. if you look carefully at the back of the hole in the base where the tank drains into it you may find a channel where your leak is coming from. look inside the tank for any numbers that could help identify your model toilet. good luck, hope this helps

There are seals with a horn, there are seals with an inner core, there are double seals, there are felt seals; you must assess the particular installation. Is the flange below or above the floor. Are the bolts properly held by the flange. Is the floor level. Chances are that you just missed the proper setting, get help, try putting another seal[don't reuse the seal] directly on the toilet and have someone help you lower it. Don't give up, buy two more seals of different types.

Most standard toilets use the same seal between the tank and the bowl. I would make sure that you have the two wedge bolts tight enough, or you may have a crack at the mouth of the tank that would only leak if you flushed the toilet.

Did you pull the entire toilet from the floor? If so, did you put a new wax ring in place? The seal itself could be pinched where it joins the toilet from the tank - it'll hold water under the tank, but when the flap opens, the rush of water runs past the kink. I would loosen the tank, check the gasket, and snug it back down.

Try taking the toilet back up and use two seals, one on top the other. It is a common practice to do this. Bet it works for you.

this is simple the tank isn't seated properly, or your seal isn't the proper one for the job. Take tank off and try again.

Add a second washer, its the cheapest thing to try. It worked for me - and its still holding 15 years later.

(I tried to give the first guy a Thumbs Up, but Y! refused me.)
