After sixty years, I have discovered a name transposition on my birth certificate. My first name appears as my middle name and my middle name appears as my first name. I tried to get a duplicate copy of my social security card and they won't issue one until my records match theirs. If I don't need a lawyer to switch my first name and middle name, what forms should I request ?from the state?

I had that problem with my birth certificate and all I had to do was go to the county clerks office and file for an amended birth certificate. They did it and all it cost me was $5 and about 15 min. It could have changed now as I did it many years ago.
