I had to install a new power supply on my Dell computer. Afterwards, now I have no sound. I tried buying a new sound card thinking that maybe I had fried the previous card with the malfunctioning power supply but since the new sound card doesn't work either, that can't be the reason. I've checked in the Control Panel and the device is working properly, has the correct digital signature, etc. I am using Windows XP. The sound is not muted. I just don't know what else to check.

Thanks for all of your suggestions. They were all really good ones.
I tried moving the card to another slot. Still no luck. I had tried using headphones before and tried again - nothing. I do get static as I plug speakers/headphones in and out. I reinstalled the software, still no sound.
Since everything in the computer states that my new sound card is working and it even picked it up as new hardware during the last movement to another PCI slot, I am figuring that it has to be something to do with software somehow. I looked in the BIOS and it shows the sound card.
Looking at the motherboard, I see no obvious problems with leaking or bulging capacitors. Nothing is muted and all the volumes are turned up.
Still frustrated.
