I don't know but I could never ever do that $hit. I could not pretend to be happy and cheery for a man's game. It's so stupid to me. But my lil sis is a cheerleader in HS and I think it is sweet that she does it. But like professional sports cheerleaders are just superficial sissies. I'd rather die than be a cheerleader. THat's jsut me.

I think it's because of the whole idea of it. A bunch of girls get dressed up in reavealing outfits to excite people.. it sounds kinda terrible.
Also, Steriotypes often have a basis in reality. When I was in highschool The popular girls were the cheerleaders and their friends and they couldn't give the unpopular people the time of day. There were some that were really friendly one in particular I remember was very friendly to everybody reguardless of how popular or wealthy they were and I don't know anybody who's said a bad word against her.
When I was in highschool I had a hatred for cheerleaders because I was a hyper femanist and I thought they were being detramental to the fight that women had gone through to be treated equally. Dressing up and flonting they're body seemed to negate that.
Now that I'm older I have grown more respect for cheerleaders because I have seen many who are accomplished athleates. I respect them for their hard work and efforts, but I'm still not a fan of the specticle.

Possibly because of jealousy over their popularity. Unfortunately, though, some (but by no means all or even most) cheerleaders seem to have a sense of entitlement and become the stereotypical bitchy/slutty cheerleader; when this happens, some people choose to generalize the behavior of a few into an umbrella covering ALL.

Probably has to do with exhibitionism, maybe mixed with envy and vanity, and maybe a little gossip too.
