In my opinion i think the best way to treat a "known illnes" (if such a thing really exists) is by dieting and exercise. Some people might be use to eating foods that are bad for them, such as microwave meals and mcdonalds. But rid your cabinets of bad foods, replenish your fridge with meats, veggies, and fruits and i assure you that one you become hungry enough these things will taste better than any fast fix. I would also recommend plenty of exercise, probably atleast a couple hours a day. Bike riding, running, lifting weights, pilates, yoga, etc... all of these things will balance chemicals in the brain along with a healthy diet. They will also tire you to help you sleep much better at night. I would talk to a doctor before starting an exercise routine that is going to be really strenuous, otherwise just start out easy then your body will tell you when its ready for more. Don't smoke, anything. Keep your mind active also, like reading or meditation, not just watching television. this will help you now and in the long run.

I am an MD. There is a German study that has shown that 90% of childhood ADD is due to sleep deprivation. I agree with this, and it also explains why amphetamines seem to help it. Children do not react to sleep deprivation in the same way that adults do. They frequently become hyperactive with the inability to concentrate for long periods on anything. So get your kids to bed!

Change of diet is the best way. Your brain can only function on the foods it's given.

Symptoms of a bad diet include:
Fatigue, insomnia, mental confusion, nervousness, mood swings, faintness, headaches, depression, phobias, heart palpitations, a craving for sweets, cold hands and feet, forgetfulness, dizziness, blurred vision, inner trembling, outbursts of temper, sudden hunger , allergies, crying spells.
Sounds like "ADD" to me.

I was on adderall for years and it made me feel like crap. Last few years I have smoked a lot of pot and it really keeps me under control. I will probably get a lot of thumbs down from people who don't have ADD and never tried it but I am telling you from my own personal experience, it worked waaaayyyy better than any pharmecutical drug. Got me through college definitly.

I recommend reading 'Driven to Distraction' and 'Answers to Driven to Distraction' I would pick them up from the library and if you really think that they will be useful tools (I believe you will agree) then get them from Borders or Barnes & Noble or Amazon or a second hand book store or whereever you like to buy books. Great great exercises to do for you mind....to recondition it's thinking, so to speak, they are both AWESOME books!

I'm not sure about any natural herbs or anything like that, but you can help the symptoms by watching your sugar intake.( Even in certain fruits and vegetables.)I would talk to my doctor.Good luck!
