The version of the PATRIOT act voted on (and hence passed) by Congress was not the version they had been given to read and judge. It was fundmentally altered by the White House the night before the vote. Most members of the House and Senate still believed they were voting on the version of the PATRIOT act that didn't include clauses to spy on and persecute innocent law abiding citizens who happen to have beliefs opposite to that of the Bush administration.

None of our amerndments are lost. I am a conservative and the patriot act is a little too far reaching, and its now permanent. Bush hasnt used it to too much of an extent but if hillary gets in people are going to start dissapearing in the middle of the night. She is way to evil to have supervillian powers like the patriot act.
