I'm interested in getting an ipod, but I already have a service I use to get music. If I buy an ipod can I upload songs to it from other sources?

No you can upload songs off a cd or download them off something else like limewire and put it onto itunes.

Of course not! As long as you can get the song you want on your computer in mp3 format (or some other format the iPod will take), you can put it on there. Almost everything on my iPod came directly from my CD collection. I just used a program to rip the CD tracks to mp3 (such as MusicMatch Jukebox, Audio Grabber, CDex, etc.) and moved the mp3s to the player.

No, you don't have to buy any music from the itunes store. Just rip it from a cd using the iTunes software. Or load it with any mp3's you got from any other source.
