It's about doing more business. You shop while waiting, they may find damge to your jewelry needing repair (like loose settings, etc..), and they sell jewelry cleaner as well.
Some time in the future, you will be in the market to buy some more jewelry and since they were kind enough to clean your stuff for free, they hope you will think of them at that time.

I in simple terms helped my brother choose a diamond for his female chum so i comprehend how confusing it could all be. it could be a lot extra effectual to get it at a "mom and pa" jeweller through fact - paying for from a chainstore you're extra of a kind than a guy or woman. A 'mom and pa' shop will flow out of employer in the event that they do no longer sell great product with reliable provider. - in many cases chainstores have not got diamonds above I or J shade. you do no longer desire to flow under H shade, F or G is right (for the widely used guy or woman). - The cut back might no longer be as reliable through fact those are bought by potential of the extra intense jewellers. they might help you comprehend that they've appropriate cuts (for e.g. hearts and arrows), despite the fact that this is extremely no longer likely, if no longer impossible. the final cuts flow to wholesalers and small rings designers. - A jeweller would be waiting to offer you extra suggestion on the diamond and the putting as separate issues. A diamond will stay a similar, yet generally over the years the putting might substitute. - think of relating to the mark-up in the chain shops. you generally see the rings at 30-50% off and the product could be notably low high quality. - as quickly as you have your ring it fairly is not considerable approximately no count if the shop is going out of employer or no longer. this is unlike a toaster which will ruin. A sotre this is relatives run is in all hazard to be handed down the relatives so which you nevertheless have some assurances. - the final bargains you will get is by potential of dealing with a diamond wholesaler. they are specialists in picking a diamond that's the biggest concern you're paying for. A jeweller would be waiting to sell you a diamond extra decrease priced than a chainstore and additionally you gets a good product. when you have chosen a diamond you are able to then flow to a jeweller who can artwork with you to layout the putting. The jeweller can create the putting based on the specific diamond you have so as that inclusions on the sting could be lined. reliable good fortune and congratulations.

They do it for good customer service, and while they are cleaning your stuff, they can show you the "new" stuff that has come in. Also there is a better chance you won't be running off with their merchandise.
It does bother me though, people go into a jewelry store and ask them to clean something they bought three years ago, you defiantly can't get a car dealer to do that free.

I am a jeweler by profession and the reason we (I) like to do that is for the following reasons:
The customer has more time to spend in your store and while it is being cleaned they will not leave and will look at more merchandise.
It's customer service to do that to compliment thier new purchase.
Most times Customers ask us if we have a cleaner and we could clean it up for them.
If there is anything related to jewelery I can help you with please drop me a line at kunalsc@yahoo.com

Because it's part of their job. As long as you are at a reputable jewlery store you have nothing to worry about. One thing I did hear about though is nail salons offering to clean your rings- NEVER let them do that! But jewelry stores are fine, it's just like a small clothing boutique offering to hold your large bags behind the counter so you don't have to hold them it's not like they are going to steal whats in your bags.

They're just doing it out of customer service but if you're super paranoid you can have then whip out their handy diamond tester to test the diamonds before and after cleaning so you don't feel susipious.

i get my real diamond and precious stone jewlery cleaned all the time, along with my mom. they can do it right in front of you or they can keep it and you can pick it up later. believe me, the places like al jen jewlers, zales, robins bro's, nordstrom..etc. are not out to take your jewels or jewlery. doing a freindly free cleaning of it helps bring in business. after all, they are just trying to make money.

My guess is that it makes it more shiny and appealing, thereby catching the eye of other people and make them want to buy jewelry. That way, they sell more.
Same as car dealers who wash your car when you bring it in for service - clean cars look more appealing.

because the solutions they use removes tiny amounts of gold and silver. They give it back to you and you think it looks fine. At the end of the day, they strain this solution and recover the fine metal particles out of it then they make more jewelry to sell you.

Hmm I never heard of that before. Probably to be nice, unless you're at a really sketchy place then I wouldn't leave my stuff with them. =)
