What do you think of Rev. Fred Phelps and his kansas congregation?
Personally, I think this man is one sick and twisted son of *****. He does how ever have the right to speak his mind but his practice of protesting soliders funerals is sick and I not even supporting the war.

Here is a site about him, with interviews from family members who were lucky enough to escape from his controlling cult. Fred regularly beat his wife and kids due to out-of-control troubles with anger. He is hard-wired to hate, and blames it all on God.

well that Mr. Man, thinks he is going to the glorious Heaven. I will leave it to the Lord, Jesus. That man (Rev Fred Phelps) is going to regret it all for spreading hate on Earth. Its not even worth it to go beat him down. He will serve Justice. I will be laughing if I hear one day that when he dies, people would go protest on his stinking tomb. I never wish anyone bad things, but this man deserves it all. Shows no respect towards other, spreading so much hate, in all media forms. Like I said, my hands will not get dirty and I encourage you all to keep up the good work. We as gays do not harm others with our lifestyle. We are entitled to the same benefits as an straight couple. I know I might get some negative mails, but I don't care about it because it doesnt affect me at all. Homophobics want a war, they will get one. As long as that old hag keeps his trash out of my sight he can do whatever he seems fit.. And at the end, Rev Phelps and all haters will pay dearly in the end.. We should all live as a family and in peace on this world. With wars, diseases, people starving, we don't need much more hate..

P.S. I even hate the fact that the man is taking God's name in vain. God is about love, tolerance, compassion not hate..

This creature has been around as long as the earth has existed, at least it sure feels that way. This bozo is crackpot who doesn't even keep his nose out of other countries. A couple of years ago I had the pleasure (?) of meeting one of his sons when they came up to Canada to protest the legalization of Same Sex Marriage. There they were, hillbillies all, marching and protesting. Most people who walked by, many of them Canadian conservatives, just laughed or ignored them. Here in Canada we tolerated him, but only in so much as we didn't take him seriously. Sadly, in the U.S., he has been both disruptive and more importantly, disrespectful. But then again, knowing his website, how can you not be horrified by what he stands for.

Right on. Some piece of $*** reverend he is, because he sure as hell isn't being accepting and loving to all--one of the MAIN TEACHINGS OF THE CHURCH! He needs to STAY AWAY from soldiers' funerals. How would he feel if it was his kid that was murdered because he was a priest and atheists protested? LIKE $***! I hate Rev. Phelps.

I don't think he actually believes or cares about any of the crazy things he says... he does it for attention and he eats it up. His little empire, the westboro baptist church, is entirely funded by the lawsuits he files against anyone who he can provoke to shove or touch him at a demonstration.

Furthermore, if you ever see him on TV, he gets along with the counter protesters quite well if they are civil to him. He relies on them to get the attention he desires. He's no nut... he's found a way to make money without getting a real job.

I think he's unintentionally done more for gay rights than many activists could hope to do. I think a lot of people look at him and say, "If Fred Phelps is for it, then I'm against it."

Remember, too, that his congregation is essentially his family.

I think that they are pathetic...and crazy (seriously disturbed). What kind of a sane person would want to inflict that much pain on a family that is already in pain? Says a lot more about fred phelps than it does about any of his 'causes'.

What can we say? Crazies come in every form. He's just a little louder about it. I don't mind - he's the prime example of homophobia and gets people to rethink their stance on gays in my opinion. Sane people certaintly don't want to be homophobic if it means being thrown in with this lot.

He's a nut. The majority of his congregation is made up of his family. The best thing to do is ignore him - he gets off on the attention.

if god does so much hating, as the religious conservatives seen to say, I'm glad I'm a secular humanist. Below is an explanation of secular Humanism.
